flames/oilers game

last thursday ashley and i went to the flames/oilers game with curtis and a bunch of his friends. ashley, although from london, has been a flames fan for years, and it has been a life goal of hers to see them play live. needless to say, her permagrin was there all night, and probably all day too. it was interesting because there were some oilers fans among the group of guys we were with (and some canucks fans who just picked a side) but that was a fun dynamic i think. people are crazy about their teams tho, man! the flames lost in overtime, but i didn't mind. it was really fun to go to a game...much better than watching it on tv. and i actually saw the goals, not in the replays, because i didn't have a book with me! ok, here are the pics.

chinook shopping centre

yesterday after class ashley and i took a trip, not to the mall, but to the shopping centre. we entertained ourselves by visiting the cowboy store (yes, i did put a hat on backwards, and yes, the girl did announce that to the whole store) and going on the merry-go-round (ashley had never been on a merry-go-round in a mall before!) and since i had my oh so handy camera with me, you get some pics and videos. enjoy!

before i show you the videos let me tell you a little story about these bikes. we borrowed them from karyn and nicole. they are mountain bikes. i am no longer used to riding mountain bikes. you have to lean so far forward! it's weird. karyn's front wheel likes to turn separately from the handlebars. and, oh yeah, i'm used to pedal brakes, not handle brakes. so it made for an interesting ride. and julie couldn't remember how many years it had been since she rode a bicycle. we're off to a good start, eh? so we took off and we saw these "bike path ahead" signs. took us a long time before we made it to the bike path. but we got to the bike path at confederation park, and it was really beautiful. we had to dodge people a little bit (we didn't have bells and saying "hallo" doesn't really work) but other than that it was misadventure free. oh yeah, we kept having this jogger pass us. very embarrassing. anywho, here are some videos i attempted while riding nicole's mountain bike.

when nicole was a little girl she used to dance like this in the car and her family thought she was handicapped. she still dances like this. so we all join in the fun...here's a video from the other day. more videos on my dropshots account.

after hiking to troll falls we went to upper lake where it was so peaceful. i'm showing you a video because you just hear the water lapping and you can see the mountains and stuff. heel leuk! my favourite part is when you see the mountains covered in trees so it looks like they have a fleece blanket on or something. it's clearer in a picture than in the video, but whatever. oh, and yes, the guy at the end is jan and he is dutch and when i said hello to him he really thought i was dutch! boo yah!
