i'm on another ingrid michaelson kick. i love her music, and i love how relate-able her lyrics are. here's a version of her song "sort of" (please ignore the mistakes and flubbed ending, i didn't feel like recording it again, haha). hopefully soon i'll have another one up, after i finish figuring out the chords.

autumn walk

fall has officially arrived. i've pulled out the mittens and scarves, and even some boots! today amy and i went out for london fogs and a crisp walk. and since we're both so photogenic, here are some pics ;)

recently amy and i went for a bike ride and picnic in prince's island park, and we discovered this amazing dancing roller blade man. i had to stop to dig out my camera and video him because if i'm having a bad day i can look at this video and it will make me smile.



i just bought myself a mac, and so i decided to take a video of myself playing guitar. it does a great job of showcasing my weaknesses as a musician. especially because i used a pic, and i normally don't, so all my mistakes are amplified. that being said...enjoy! haha



the last video is from my birthday. i decided that to celebrate a quarter of a century, i should smash a plate. there were some who doubted my ability to break the plate on the first time *coughbrentoncoughmeeracough* but i had no problem.

a raging sea dinosaur
roars up out of my imagination and
soon my arms and legs are curled up in unrelenting tentacles
which begin to
s q u e e z e

squeeze

how do i get loose?
my breath quickens in short gasps
now being dragged under the sea

somehow, i feel calm in the murky green abyss
my hair floating around me
and then
i see my unmoving body
as if from a distance
clenched in the grip of ever-tightening tentacles

suddenly
the sea dinosaur releases me
with a loud groan.
i am back in my body, thrashing for the surface
my lungs desperate for air
head above water
my feet soon touch bottom
as i near the shore
collapsing on wet sand
chest heaving damp wind

i glance back to see a sword flashing
loud crashes coming from a flailing sea dinosaur
appendages blindly sweeping
searching for danger
but missing the source
a clever otter dances around the dinosaur
wielding effortless yet fatal strokes
as the power of the sea dinosaur
d i m i n i s h e s

diminishes
until the pieces of its lifeless body
sink

to the bottom.
